Examples of current opportunities for volunteers:
Events Administrator – Make all the arrangements for our exhibition stand at the Keswick Convention in England and other such events each year.
Welcome Team – Contact new members to welcome them, connect their skills to our opportunities to serve, and update the database records.
Books Coordinator – Take the lead on increasing the number of books available in EasyEnglish, liaising with writers for new books and publishers for permission to translate existing books.
Magazine Service Deputy Coordinator – Support the coordinator and take a fresh look at this service in reviewing demand, capacity, issues and options for the way forward.
Hospitality Deputy Coordinator – Learn about the service so that you can provide holiday cover etc. for the Coordinator.
Small Projects Deputy Coordinator – Learn about MissionAssist’s small project grants administration so that you can provide holiday cover etc. for the Coordinator who liaises with applicants and serves the grant awarding committee.
Key Tasks, depending on the role
- Develop and maintain an understanding of the mission, values and work of MissionAssist.
- Learn and following existing procedures for your role; offer constructive feedback and new ideas for improvements.
- Keep in contact with team members, assigning tasks and checking progress (for Coordinators).
- Provide holiday cover for the Coordinator and be first in line to become the next Coordinator (for Deputy Coordinators).
Requirements
- Relevant experience in administration or project coordination.
- Ability to work independently, with good judgement, in a virtual organisation.
- Aptitude to represent MissionAssist professionally, with good communication skills.
