“We can help people whose mother tongue is not English with their written documents. In the process of correcting the language we learn about topics ranging from education in rural Asia to theological approaches to disability.” Judy, English Language Editing service

MissionAssist offers a service of English Language Editing specifically for people for whom English is an additional language. Although we currently have enough volunteers to fulfil those specific requests, we would welcome a discussion with people who have the skills and experience to take on a wider range of editing requests.

Key Tasks

    • Review documents, to meet the client’s requirements.
    • Deliver an initial revision and respond to feedback.
    • Keep in contact with the service coordinator, to support their role of assigning tasks and checking progress for the client’s timeline.

Requirements

  • English language qualification and confidence in British English.
  • Experience of editing documents, including using the Review facilities in Microsoft Word.
  • Willingness to work as part of a team, giving and receiving feedback that results in a high standard of service.
